 Hillsborough County Breast Cancer Screening Programs

Moffitt Cancer Center / Breast Cancer Screening for Underserved Women:

Age: 40-49 years old (occasional exceptions made for women meeting the other criteria under the age of
40 or over the age of 64)
Mammogram Status: No prior mammogram within the past 365 days, most recent mammogram is a BIRADS 1 or BIRADS 2, asymptomatic
Residency: Resident of Hillsborough County
Insurance Status: Uninsured
Poverty Level: 200% of the federal poverty level

Project TOUCH / St. Joseph's Women's Hospital:

Age: Screening Mammograms ages 40 –49 w/ diagnostic mammogram follow-up and biopsy if necessary. Diagnostic mammograms and follow up biopsy if necessary if patient presents with palpable abnormality, nipple discharge or other abnormality. Not eligible if diagnostic mammogram is routine annual exam and patient is not 40-49.

 Pinellas County Breast Cancer Screening Programs

Mammography Voucher Program of Pinellas County:

Age: 40-49 years old (Women younger than 40 are accepted for screening if there is family history of BRCA gene defect, or first degree relative with pre-menopausal breast cancer)
Mammogram Status:
Residency: Resident of Pinellas County
Insurance Status: Uninsured or underinsured
Poverty Level: 250% or less of the Federal Poverty Level
Acceptance for Diagnostic Breast Evaluations:

• Women 29 and younger are not accepted into the program for any reason unless there is a documented BRCA gene defect or family history that clearly has a high risk of gene defect.
• Women 30-39 should be referred to MVP if there is a discrete palpable mass, nipple discharge that meets criteria, skin changes, or nipple retraction or they have a family history that clearly has a high risk of gene defect. They should be provided with a CBE and prescription ordering the appropriate exam.
• Diagnostic mammography and/or ultrasound will NOT be performed for the evaluation of breast pain without other qualifying clinical signs and symptoms
• Diagnostic mammography and/or ultrasound will NOT be performed for nipple discharge that is not unilateral, spontaneous/reproducible, and either clear or bloody. Nipple discharge that is not appropriate for evaluation includes: bilateral, expressible only, brown, yellow, green, purple, white.
