Q. When is the Race?Saturday, October 1st, 2011.Q. What is a Team?A team is any group of 10 or more people who want to participate in the Race. Everyone you know friends, family, co-workers and neighbors can be part of your team. A church, school or civic group could be a team. Team members can choose the activity that best meets their needs. Team members may run or walk together in a single event or split up and participate in various events. Even people who don't want to get up early on a Saturday morning can be part of your team by registering for Sleep in for the Cure®. Children are welcomr to join a team and participate in the 5K, 10K, 1 mile or Kids for the Cure® races. There is no limit to the number of members you can have on your team.Q. Most Frequently Asked Question on Race Morning - WHERE'S MY TEAM?With more than 12,000 people on site Race morning, it's easy to lose your team members. Prior to Race day, each team captain will receive a zone assignment to share with their team. In the park on Race morning there will be zone flags. Teams should meet near the zone flag matching their assigned zone. For further zone information contact your team captain or look for your team gathering point on this page. Q: How long is the Race?There are 3 race distances. Each participant will chose the distance of their race during registration. The longer Race is 10K or 6.2 miles. The traditional Komen Race for the Cure is 5K or 3.1 miles. The Fun Run / Walk is 1 mile.Q: I can't run or walk in the Race. Can I still participate?Yes, you can participate in one of two ways. If you are able to come to the park on Race day, we encourage you to register as Proud in the Crowd® join us in the park, cheer on the runners and walkers and honor the survivors. If you cannot come to the park on race day, register for Sleep in for the Cure®.Q: If I register as Proud in the Crowd®, will I receive a t-shirt?Yes, registering as Proud in the Crowd® entitles you to a t-shirt. Keep in mind Race t-shirts are limited to the first 10,000 registrants therefore they may not be available at walk up and onsite registration. Registering early is the best way to ensure you will receive a race t-shirt.Q: If I register for Sleep in for the Cure®, will I receive a t-shirt?Yes, you will recieve a race T-shirt. We assume that Sleep in for the Cure participants will not be coming to the Race site and mail packets to all sleep in registrants. Since sleep in registration stays open until a few days before the Race we will not guarantee that those registering late will recieve their T-shirt before Race day. Keep in mind Race t-shirts are limited to the first 10,000 registrants. Registering early is the best way to ensure you will receive a Race t-shirt. Q: Will the Race be cancelled if it rains on Race Day?The Race takes place rain or shine. We reserve the right to cancel in extreme circumstances. In that event, there will be no refunds, rather your entry fee will be used as a donation to the Komen Florida Suncoast Affiliate.Q: Do I have to collect pledge money to participate in the Race?No, you do not have to collect pledge money to participate in the race, however we encourage everyone to raise as much as possible for the fight against breast cancer. If every participant collected just $100 in pledges, we would raise over $1 million to battle this devastating disease! Q: How do I become a sponsor?Visit the Sponsorship section for complete information. Call us at 1-877-506-6927 or email sponsorships@komensuncoast.org. We would be delighted to hear from you!Q: How do I form a team?Visit the Teams section for complete information. If you need additional assistance call the information line at 1-877-506-6927 or email teams@komensuncoast.org and a team coordinator will contact you.Q: I signed up to volunteer, what do I do? Where do I go? Prior to the Race all volunteers should receive an e-mail from the Race volunteer coordinator providing you with instructions. If you do not receive volunteer information call our information line 1-877-506-6927 or email volunteers@komensuncoast.org. On Race day report to the volunteer information tent in Vinoy Park.Q: Is my registration fee tax deductible?Your registration fee is not tax deductible because you receive goods and services in return for your contribution, but all pledge contributions and personal donations are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law.Q: Are children allowed to walk/run in the Race?Children may participate in the Race as long as they are able to complete it under their own accord. Children must be registered as participants and their parent or legal guardian must sign the waiver on their behalf. Please review the children's events under Kids for the Cure® as they may be better suited for your child.Q: Where do I obtain my t-shirt and bib?Race packets including t-shirts and race bibs will be automatically mailed to all participants registering online by September 21, 2011 or by paper entry form postmarked by 9/15. All participants registering after the stated deadlines will need to pick their race packet up in person in Vinoy Park on Friday before the Race from 10 am – 7 pm or Race morning from 6 am – 7 am. Q: What if I miss the deadline to have my Race T-shirt and Bib mailed?
Last minute walk up Race registration will be available on September 24th and 25th at Tyrone Square Mall and Westshore Plaza in front of Macy's. Race registration and packet pick up will be available in Vinoy park in St. Petersburg on Friday, September 30th, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Race morning, October 1st, from 6 to 7 a.m. Q: If I register for the race, am I guaranteed a t-shirt?The first 10,000 race registrants will receive an official Race t-shirt. Q: If I run in the Race, can I get my official time?Individuals participating in the competitive races will receive their official time. Runners participating in the non-competitive 5K will not recieve their official time. These participants can get an estimated time by looking at the large clock above the finish line. Q: How can I pay tribute to someone special at the Race?"In Memory Of" and "In Celebration Of" back signs will be available on Race Day. Use as many as you pay tribute to breast cancer survivors and those that have lost their battle with breast cancer. Q: Where does my money go?Up to 75% of the funds raised will stay in our community to provide breast health education, screening and treatment. Our community, the Florida Suncoast, includes Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk and Sarasota counties. At least 25% is contributed to the Komen national fund to support national breast cancer research. For further details see the Grants section of this website. Q: How do I get to Vinoy Park and the Race?From the north, take I-275 to exit 23A (I-375) which turns into 4th Ave. N. Turn right on 2nd St. N to access the Baywalk parking garage.
From the south, take I-275 to exit 22 (I-175) which turns into 5th Ave. S. Turn left on 1st St. N to access parking at Bayfront Center and South Core.
Allow plenty of time for traffic congestion!
Q: Where do I park?Arrive Early and allow plenty of time to park and walk to the park! Parking is limited in downtown St. Petersburg. Avoid street parking as most spots have time limits and exceeding the time WILL result in a ticket. Parking will be available at the following facilities for their posted fees: Bayfront Center, South Core, and Baywalk. More information is available on the Parking page.

Florida Suncoast Affiliate of Susan G Komen for the Cure® has contracted with Convio to provide online registration and fundraising for the Komen Florida Suncoast Race for the Cure.Q: How do I register for the Komen Florida Suncoast Race for the Cure?Simply click Register under Race for the Cure. You will be guided through an easy registration process. Once your transaction is complete, you will receive a confirmation email receipt.Q: If I register online is my information secure?Yes. Convio has made every effort to protect your information. All transactions are protected by Verisign.Q. Can friends and family make an online donation to me as a race or team participant?Yes. From our Race for the Cure website friends and family can select sponsor a participant and make an online donation.Q. Why is the "Sponsor Participant" search not finding a Participant that I know has registered?The name entered must be spelled the same as the participants registration. If you have a problem locating a Participant that you are sure has registered, please email us at info@komensuncoast.org and we will contact you to help.Q. How can I see who has donated to me?That information is available in your Race Center. Q. I forgot my User Name and Password. How can I find out what they are?Go to the registration area and select login. The login screen presents a series of options to retrieve you password and/or user name.Q. All of my Donors are not showing up on the scroll mechanism. Why?As your Donors make a contribution, they have the option of whether or not they want to appear in the recognition scroll.Q. I created a team and would like to appoint one of the team members as a co-captain. How can I do this?Each team may have two captains (only one is required and is the person forming the team by default). The team captain may designate the second captain through the Race Center.
